I visited this house on July 3, 2008. I feel as if I grew up here – I used to work in the Planetarium here. It has been approximately 20 years since my last visit. I was disappointed by the state of dis-repair found in the mansion and surrounding estate.

Diane- Thank-you for sharing your photos! It is a lot of work go upload the photos and tag each one, so I do want you to now how much I appreciate them! I have visited many of the same places and love looking back at these locations! Growing up in LI, and my Grandfather working as a gardener on the Phipps Mansion and Percy Pines Estate I always had a deep appreciation for the history and culture of this romantic society long gone. Keep Sharing! Diane – Now in NJ

You don’t give out a lot of information on the homes you feature. That’s why I like the “The Down East Dilettante” blog, you actually get some great pictures and you learn something at the same time, it’s time well spent, not a lot of pithy caption.
